Founded
in the 1920’s by Thomas Cunningham when
he opened a general grocery store at Bridge house
Mountbellew, the property was further expanded
in the 1930’s to include hardware and haberdashery.
By the 1940’s, "Tom Ginger" as
he was affectionately
known to his many customers and friends joined
the Auctioneers & Valuers Association and
commenced trading as an auctioneer at the premises
in Mountbellew which still bears his name to this
day and is now run by his son Paul who is a member
of the IAVI and soon expanded the business into
financial services as the local agent for Permanent
TSB (formerly Irish Permanent) which are now the
largest mortgage providers in the country and
recently voted best mortgage provider for 2006
by Moneymate.
